SPLA IO Press Statement
26/02/2018

This morning at about 6:00 am SPLA moved out of their trenches in Yei town and attacked SPLA-IO bases at Yankonye (5 miles Yei-Maridi road) and at harvesters (3 miles Yei-Maridi road.) and killed our base commander Maj. Felix Likambo Faustino and wounded one soldier. The fighting spread to the internally displaced population causing more displacements of civilians.

The SPLA IO withdrew tactically to avoid civilians casualties due to crossfire. This is an act of provocation and aggression from the regime despite the signed COH agreement on 21/12/2017.

Secondly, the regime has been airlifting troops and military logistics to Pagak since yesterday the 25/02/2018 in preparation to launch coordinated attacks on SPLA IO bases in and around Pagak and Nasir. Therefore, the letter of Maj. Gen Majier Deng Kur to CTSAMM dated 26/02/2018 is just to cover-up planned attacks on the SPLA IO positions.

The SPLA IO forces are hereby directed to be alert at all fronts as the regime continues with it’s anti peace campaign. We call upon the CTSAMM to investigate these activities as soon as possible.

The resistance continues.

We at Free Uganda Political Organisation, have always been against the war and endless suffering in Sudan. We know its the Uganda government fuelling that conflict just like they’ve done in Congo,Central Africa, etc. However, being Ugandans on paper, it doesn’t mean that we don’t have blood relatives in Sudan. Some of us once lived in Kakuma refugee camp and built a blood-bond with Sudanese there. We would hate to see another chapter of the lost boys. Today, we have maintained a very strong Comradeship with South Sudanese-especially the Youth in all corners of the world. Those young people have positive aspiration for Sudan-their love for Sudan/culture/people is unquestionable. Their talents and love for South-Sudan is beyond…Though the banter of Nuer and Dinka is always there, it never stops them to dream big for South Sudan.

Every time we see thousands of south Sudanese displaced, killed, etc. our stomachs hurt..come-on guys, that nonsense should stop- At the end of the day, someone somewhere is benefiting in the refugee plight and the endless blood being shed. Recent the UN and EU uncovered a refugee corruption scam in Uganda. Imagine people stealing from refugees??

We beg all elders of SPLA/SPLA-IO to bring together all factions to end that stupid war. Why don’t you use wrestling instead of Bombs n’ bullets?

ViVa South Sudan! VIVA PEACE & FREEDOM!
